New Project and Blog: A.R.T. Photography

Never one to stay content, I often like to start new projects and venture into new mediums, which may be obvious with all my past projects. For 2011, I decided I was going to try my hand at photography. I saved my money and bought myself a spiffy little camera and I am so excited to see what come of it!
A.R.T. photography (standing for Alexzandra R. Talbot)  will be one of my main focuses this year! I am hoping to make a side business of it, so I decided to keep it separate from Spooky Pooky Creations. However, still expect to see some of my projects on here! Anyways, if you are willing, please go check out my other blog that I will be using for all me sessions and photography adventures! I would really appreciate any and all followers and promotion I can get! Thanks!

More Harry Potter Park Goodness

Hi there! Sorry for the long lapse between posts. I am in a very transitional stage of many things in life, and I am having a hard time balancing it and finding time to post!
To answer some questions from the last post about The Wizarding World, Amy:
Yes. When I said I am planning to go back with my best friend, that means you.
And we will buy all the wands and scarves and owls our little hearts desire.
Daphne wanted to know where it is: Orlando, Florida, within the Islands of Adventure park that is a part of Universal Studios. Whew! That was a mouthful!

LC asked what butterbeer is made from and if it is alcoholic.
To start with, it is not alcoholic. I was under the impression that there was both alcoholic and non-alcoholic butterbeer but I was wrong! However, it is delicious!
I have no idea what exactly is in it, and Universal Orlando will not share the closely guarded recipe. Universal has implemented special security procedures to protect the details, in fact. But it tastes like butterscotch mostly. It is smooth and rich and amazing.
The top part that looks like head is actually is a thick whipped cream that tastes like butterscotch and vanilla. Simply put, it is the best drink ever.

And you can get it cold or frozen! We tried each one and both are delectable!

Frozen:
Lastly, I wanted to share my pics of Kevin and Hedwig with you. We spent two days at Harry Potter Park, one of them being our very last day of the trip. Needless to say, after 7 days of non-stop walking, sigh-seeing, picture taking, roller-coasters, and no sleep, we were pretty exhausted. We decided to take a break and just sit and people-watch.
Well, I bought this AWESOME Hedwig puppet that has a very realistic look to him at first glance. Plus, his head is on a lever that can twist so you can manipulate his head to turn like a real owls. Soooooo...Kevin sat with that owl and made its head follow people. He would look forward to make it look more real and he would catch peoples' attention, do a double take, then follow them with Hedwig's eyes and do it all over again.
We did this for sooooo long! It was so entertaining! And I love that Hedwig puppet so much! It is the coolest and softest plush ever!
And for good measure, here is the cutest picture ever!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Okay. So for any of you Harry Potter fans out there, I have a message for you.

GO TO THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER.

I am telling you, it is the experience of a lifetime. If you love the books and movies, it is probably the coolest place on Earth. I am already planning a trip back with my mom and best friend. How I am going to swing that money-wise- I have no idea.
But I NEED to go back!

Hogsmeade looks exactly like you would imagine it. Wonderful shops everywhere, and the tiniest details are covered everywhere. The Owl Post window has birdcages with the cutes plush owls in them, you can find Gilderoy Lockhart's books in shop windows, and his pictures move just like in the books. I could seriously go on and on with all the details. Hogwarts is just brilliant and the broomstick ride inside is amazing.

One of the best parts of the park is Ollivander's Wand Shop. It is a very brief show, but it is so much fun! For each show, somebody gets chosen from their audience by Ollivander and he helps that lucky person get "chosen" by their wand. Each show varies and the person goes through a few problem wands and casts some funky spells that go awry before finding the right wand.
On our second time through, Kevin and I got chose together as the lucky ones! He asked us if we were together and how we knew each other. When Kevin said we just got married and there on our honeymoon, he replied with "Ahh then...I will let you go first for the very last time in your life!"
He picked out a wand for Kevin, told him to repeat a spell that would bring his ladder to him. With the flick of his wrist and the casting of the spell, Kevin made all the wand boxes shake and come in and out of the shelves. Not his wand. So it was my turn. I was given my wand, flicked my wrist and thunder and lightning immediately followed.

With that, Ollivander had an epiphany, He took our wands out of our hands, criss-crossed them and traded wands between us. As they touched our hands, music started playing, lights shown down us, and the wind blew from where we were standing. Exactly like the movie.
Coolest. Thing. Ever.

Unfortunately, we don't have pictures of it since we were the ones in the show, but it was one of the most memorable parts of the trip for me!
I wish I could post all the pictures from the park but I have over 300. In fact, I took over 2000 pictures on the whole trip! I am going to try and get them all posted on flickr, and if you have me on Facebook, you can see them all there.
But let me assure you. The park was one of the best things I will ever experience in my life. And butterbeer = awesome.

Zombunneh!

One of my friend's from school had casually mentioned she wanted to see me make a zombie bunny, and then said she might commission one later. Well, I had been wanting to make her something for awhile, because she helped me sooooo much during my wedding and spent the day setting up and cleaning up with me. So that instantly sparked my inspiration and now here you have a zombie bunny!

Better Late then Never...!

Due to the overwhelming chaos of arriving home just a few days before Christmas I did not have time to post a couple Christmas projects. So here they are now, better late than never, right?

First up, a Christmas Monster of Good Spirit! Made for my incredible friend, Lani.
Next, is my Christmas card for this year. I love the idea of Santa and Yeti being shocked by the existence of one another.
Finally, every year, my family does a Christmas Ever party with a themed gift exchange. This year our theme was The Grizwold's Christmas Vacation. I needed something and I needed it fast because I forgot about it until we got home. So I made this for a key hanger board and it was quite a hit. Sorry for the swearing...I just copied it word from word from his speech for authenticity. :D

Brand New Year!

Happy New Year, everybody!

I know, I am a little late. But these last few days have been incredibly busy and trying. But all is good now, and I am ready for a fresh start to an awesome new year. I hope everybody had an incredible Christmas and a happy and safe New Year holiday.

I cannot believe it is 2011. Where in the the heck did 2010 go?! 2010 was the most incredible year of my life. And I truly mean that. So many wonderful and amazing things happened this year and I cannot believe it still. Just for a recap these are my top experiences of the year:

  • Saw AFI (one of my all time favorite bands) in concert.
  • Got ENGAGED at AFI, with my favorite song dedicated to me by the lead singer.
  • Learned several new mediums of art, including my curio cabinets and Plushes.
  • Was featured on Craftster several times.
  • Made even more fantastic friends and true life-long bonds through Craftster.
  • Met my BFF, Amy!
  • Worked a job that I truly loved and was absolutely life-changing.
  • Had my Pumpkin Heads Dolls featured in Art Doll Quarterly.
  • Had my art requested by Loren Coleman, and now have a piece in the International Cryptozoology Museum.
  • Planned and executed my entire wedding and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to.
  • Oh yeah, I GOT MARRIED!!!
  • Went to Disney World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Honestly, there are tons more of little milestones, but those are the main highlights. 2011 has a lot to live up to, but I know it is going to be a great year. It might not be as grand as this last one was, but Kevin and I have so many adventures to look forward to with our first year or marriage and plans for our future.
The magic of Disney and everything Walt Disney has created truly captured my heart and inspired me so much. I have so many things I want to do this year, including pursuing my dream of working for Disney.
I want to thank you all for being such an incredible group of people. You all give me so much hope and inspiration and love and I cannot thank you enough. Because of your support, I have accomplished all these things. Thank you, sincerely!
